Last Week of Fourth Grade!

I can't even believe it! The last week of school is upon us!

Assessments this week!
History Test on Monday
Roots Test on Wednesday

We will be wrapping up things in all subjects this week for a nice and tidy finish to fourth grade.

Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are all 1/2 days. You do not need to send in a lunch for your child, but they might desire a snack on Wednesday since there is no party that day.

*Please send in a sturdy bag in addition to the backpack on Friday as we will be cleaning out our desks and bringing our materials home for the summer.

Our class party will be on Thursday. Please see the signup genius from our classroom Mom's to find ways to help out with that. We will play games, eat snacks, and sign memory books/ yearbooks.

The summer birthday bash will be on Friday. You can end in a party favor gift, or snack, for your child to share with the class. We will sing Happy Birthday and there will be great joy.

Please remember to complete the Family Satisfaction survey. If you missed the first email, you can find the link embedded in todays newsletter or at the following link (http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/2777401/9c07fb56941a).
Please, please complete that survey if you are able. It provides the teachers valuable feedback about their performance, and gives administration a look into our classrooms from your perspective.

Quarter 4 Week 8

We are so close to the finish line, and the students can taste the end! That being said, there is still so much to accomplish before the end!

End of the Year Parties
Our end of the year celebration will be Thursday June, 26th. Please be on the look out for more information from our classroom Moms!

The summer birthday bash will be on the last day of school. If you child has a birthday during summer break, please send them in with a treat to share with the class (I recommend little gifts like pencils, erasers and stickers in lieu of sugary snacks). We will sing them Happy Birthday and joy will ensue.

Content
Math
We have finished learning new material and are reviewing what we have learned in fourth grade.
Language Arts
We are doing our spelling words as usual. We are also reading the Jungle Books and practicing our writing skills. There will be a test on all 100 Greek and Latin Roots on Wednesday the 25th. Students should be studying a little every night!
Science
We are still studying the respiratory system. There will be an assessment on Friday.
History
We are studying the early presidencies. There will be an assessment early next week!

Summer Tutoring
Statistics show that students lose their last three months of progress during the summer vacation. I would hate to see my scholars struggle at the start of fifth grade, and I am offering three summer options to minimize summer regression. Please read through the three options below and contact me for more information.

  1. There will be a free math skills lab once a week during the month of July at the South East Regional Library for one hour. Days and times are TBA. If you are interested in this, please send me an email and I will put you on my contact list.
  2. I also offer private tutoring for a fee during the summer. I will be available to tutor in all subjects to help ensure readiness for fifth grade. Contact me as soon as possible to start scheduling private tutoring with me. Mr. Posner and Ms. Speagle are also available for summer tutoring if you prefer.
  3. There are also reading, grammar, and math packets I can send home with your child, which you can have your child complete at their pace. Email me if you would like one of these sent home with your child.

Quarter Four Week Seven

Greetings!!

First of all, I would like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the gifts I have received. From my birthday to Teacher Appreciation week, you all have really spoiled me. I am SO appreciative!

We are really in the home stretch. I am starting to get a little sad to see these little guys all grown up!

The summer will be here SO soon! I will be recommending  summer work to a few families, but if you would like the jump the gun about summer work for your child to help them stay up to snuff with reading or math, please let me know!
(This may only apply to a few families as well, but I am available for summer tutoring during the month of July. Let me know if I can be of service to you in that regard as well! )

Assessments this week:
History Test Monday
Spelling Test Friday

History: This week in history we are about to embark on the Early Presidents. I am very excited to kick this off with our favorite General, George Washington.
