Quarter Four Week One

Hello 4B Families!

I hope you all had a wonderful Spring Break. I can't believe that the fourth quarter is already here! There are only 8 full weeks left of school! My expectations for our class are only getting higher as we approach fifth grade. I look forward to every student growing academically and morally as they strive to meet those expectations.

With the fourth quarter comes testing season as well! Please make sure your children are present for the following test dates:
April 5th: AZMerit Writing
April 8th: AIMS Science

This week in fourth grade:
LA: We are learning the format of a friendly letter. We will be starting The Wizard Of Oz this week. Please make sure to send it in! There will be spelling words as usual.
Math: We learned about symmetry in the beginning of the week and will move into graphing and linear equations later in the week.
Science: We are preparing for the AIMS science test this week by reviewing old material and sharing test taking strategies.
History: We are continuing our study of the Revolutionary War. Today, I introduced the "Signers" project. Each student was assigned a signer of the Declaration of Independence and they will research about them to share with the class. The project packet is going home today and should be returned by Wednesday to confirm your awareness. I will send the packet back home with the child promptly once receiving your signature.

Wednesday: History Quiz
Wednesday: Concord Hymn Recitation
Thursday: Spelling Assessment

Math: We will be finishing up the decimals unit with an assessment this week and then doing a cumulative review thereafter.

Science: We are exploring the Scientific Method as a way to solve mysteries. The Science Notebook will be collected at the end of the week for a BIG check.

**Please send students in to class with a sturdy bag to hold their desk materials on Thursday. The cleaning crew will be doing a thorough desk cleaning over the break.

Our class has had several confirmed cases of the flu. PLEASE be sure to keep your student at home if they are showing a fever. Thank you!

Quarter 3 Week 10

Hello!
We are in for a wonderful week!

Math: We will be exploring the mysterious world of decimal numbers even more!
Language Arts: We are spelling as usual, completing Mr. Bowditch, and developing our writing skills. There is a Bowditch vocab test on Wednesday. Make sure to bring in The Wizard of Oz as soon as possible!
History: We will be diving deeper into the Revolutionary War. There will be a test on Thursday.
Science: We are wrapping up the Geology Unit with a expository writing project. There will be a unit test on Friday covering everything from tectonic plates to soil, though it will be heavy on weathering and erosion (NB pg.63-88). Additionally, I will be collecting their notebooks after the test for a notebook check!

Athletic Field Day! We are PERSIA!

This event will take place Friday, March 11th from 12:00-2:30.
Please remember that students must bring in a water bottle that day. They may wear pop-culture free athletic clothing. I recommend a hat and sunscreen as well!
I encourage you to decorate a t-shirt with our team symbol for the event!
Parents are invited as spectators to the event and may bring a lawn chair to sit and watch from the sidelines!
